I’m very excited that I published my first children’s book My Strong Mind and found an Australian distributor. The book teaches 5-8 year old children about confidence, mental strength and growth mindset using real life stories from my own two daughters, aged 7 and 9. It’s great to teach children simple techniques that can help them deal with when the going gets tough.

The main character is Kate, a sporty and happy girl. She does well at school and has many friends. But like every girl, she sometimes faces difficult situations at home or at school. Children and parents can discover how Kate uses her strong mind to tackle her daily challenges with a positive attitude. Kate faces several situations your children will face too. She applies a positive attitude to deal with her challenge. Amongst them are getting ready in time in the morning, doing cartwheels, standing in front of the whole class with show and tell and playing basketball.

Kate applies techniques like goals setting, positive self-talk, accept failure as learning, visualisation of a problem, breathing or mindfulness exercise, gratitude, and controlled distraction. These are proven intervention techniques that adults can apply too. Parents can discuss with their kids how these small intervention lead to better outcomes and over time lead to improved mental strength or mental toughness.

My book aspires to educate children and parents about mental toughness and open a positive dialogue on the subject. Kate solves her every day problems with a positive attitude and hopefully will help 5-8 year old children do the same.

In the US, UK and Canada My Strong Mind is available on Amazon . It’s also on Amazon Australia, but in Australia you will get the best deal from Bookdepository.
